John of Anina : ウィキペディア英語版 | John of Anina In 2002, the oldest modern human remains in Europe were discovered in a cave (Peștera cu Oase) near Anina, Romania. Nicknamed ''"Ion din Anina"'' (John of Anina), his remains (the lower jaw) are some 40,000 years old. A second expedition by Erik Trinkaus and Ricardo Rodrigo discovered further fragments (e.g. a skull dated ~36,000 years old, nicknamed "Vasile"). ==See also==
